Château de Caumont
The Chateau de Caumont was built around 1535 in a Renaissance style, in place of an old "chateau fort". The present castle is built on a defensive plan. In Caumont was born in 1554 one of the famous "Cadet de Gascogne" and "Mignon" of the King Henri III, Jean-Louis de Nogaret de La Valette, Duke of Epernon. During the 19th century lived in Caumont Armand, Marquis de Castelbajac. He was a Napoleon's general and followed him through Europe during all the battles of the "Grande Armée". Later on, Marquis de Castelbajac has been Ambassador in Russia for Napoleon III. The Castelbajac family still lives in the castle which is a Listed Historical Monument.
