Château de la Motte
The beautiful Château de la Motte was built in the 16th and 18th centuries. It is, for a chateau, a comfortable size with a floor area of about 550 square metres. The house, together with its courtyard, outbuildings and pigeonnier is surrounded by a moat. In the corner of the courtyard is an 18th century garden pavilion. Outside the moat, the grounds, 17 acres in all, are lovely. Near the house is a parterre, a hard tennis court and a heated pool, enclosed by walls and the pool house. Alongside the pool area are a rose garden with two fountains, a barbecue and a pergola shading an outside dining area. Beyond is woodland and parkland, with streams and a lake fed from the river Hozain which flows along the boundary. Wildlife abounds. For old and young, active and inactive, this is a glorious corner of rural France.
