Château de Maulmont
Chateau de Maulmont is the former royal hunting lodge of Princess Adelaide (1777-1847), sister of the King of France, Louis-Philippe d’Orléans. Located in the Auvergne region of France, the chateau stands in a park of 22 hectares and enjoys magnificent views over the Allier valley and the Bourbonnais Mountains. The excellent gastronomic restaurant "Le Maulmont" serves French cuisine and a simpler menu du jour is available 7/7 for lunch and dinner. Light snacks are available on the terrace in the summer. The hotel offers three different categories of rooms: highly individual and romantic "character" rooms, with special features such as towers, four poster beds, balconies or exceptional views; spacious and tastefully decorated "luxury" rooms, and "family suites and apartments". In addition, there are two holiday homes available for rent. The Chateau’s large terrace has a herb garden and outdoor swimming pool with stunning views across the valley; and in the original vaulted cellars is an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna and fitness area. Within the hotel grounds, you can take a peaceful stroll through the woods, perfect your swing on the golf driving range, use the mountain bikes for hire, or spend a day fishing in one of the two lakes. In the surrounding area, there are numerous opportunities for activities, such as golf (three excellent golf courses are available in the vicinity of the hotel), horseback riding, canoeing, hiking and cycling. The elegant spa town of Vichy is only a 15 min drive away and within 40km are the cathedral city of Clermont Ferrand and the fabulous Puy-de-Dome volcanic region.
