Corderie Royale - Centre International de la Mer

 

 

 

A ropemaking factory of 374 m lenght, the Corderie Royale was built as from 1666 by F. Blondel, on the orders of Louis XIV. Bordering the Charente River, the building with a Mansart roof and decorated skylight windows has tree lodges. It is a work of art in malitary architecture of the 17th century.
